Cold War on the Home Front (April 23, 2022)
The Cuban Missile Crisis (May 21, 2022)
Each workshop will be held at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum. One license renewal credit is available for those who attend all three dates.

Summer Professional Development Opportunities
Integrating Inquiry, Primary Sources and Iowa History into K-12 Classrooms
June 20-21, 2022 at State Historical Museum of Iowa
Explore the best practices for integrating inquiry and primary sources into your K-12 classrooms. Participants will receive exclusive access to the museum’s primary sources - both archives and collection objects - as well as learn from teacher facilitators will model best practices for using primary sources and inquiry. Participants will walk away with resources and lesson plans to implement in their classrooms. Find more information as well as how to register here.
Lewis & Clark On the Missouri
June 28-30, 2022
Participants will spend time traveling to four sites related to the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery expedition along the Missouri River. At each stop, participants will learn about specific aspects of the expedition from scholars and National Park Service Rangers. As a result of the class, participants will create a lesson plan/unit that they will be able to use during the subsequent school year. Lesson plans will be featured on the National Park Service website. Find more information as well as how to register here.
